“Florida has one of the largest systems of public hunting lands in the country at nearly 6 million acres. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission uses its scientific expertise to manage Florida’s wildlife resources to make sure conservation objectives are met and hunting opportunities are sustainable.
The Sunshine State offers a diversity of species to pursue from white-tailed deer, hogs, alligators, and turkeys to waterfowl, dove, bobwhite quail, and small game species such as gray squirrel, rabbits, and raccoons.”

Florida Deer Hunting Season
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission makes these notes about hunting in Florida.
“Florida has one of the largest wildlife management area (WMA) systems in the country at nearly 6 million acres. This statewide network of remote and scenic lands is managed for conservation and recreation. Healthy habitats and abundant game populations are the results of dedicated professionals – wildlife biologists, land managers, partners and volunteers – who work to ensure wildlife have the conditions needed to thrive.”

Florida Small Game Hunting Season
Florida offers a very wide of small game hunting opportunities. The good news is many of these have Open Seasons all year round.
Trapping is also permitted. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission makes these notes about trapping in Florida.
“Live traps and snares (including power snares) can be used to take furbearers and wild hogs but must be checked every 24 hours. The use of steel leg-hold traps, dog-proof raccoon traps and body-grip (conibear) traps is prohibited, except when permitted by the FWC.”
